Anton Stankowski working in his Stuttgart studio. What a graphic design office looked like before the computer.
I don’t have any information about who took the photograph.
good thing he didn’t get migraines :-))
Eye sight, the reason that I eat bunches of carrots and down zinc tablets.
A lot of different work areas had their own interesting look before the computer came along.
Marvelous! Bet you have many memories of places like this … or just one total amalgam of memory.
My first office of my own was literally a broom closet that I rented in Portland, Oregon in an old and very interesting downtown building. I scoured, scrubbed, painted, got my drawing board in and out of my little Volkswagon Beetle and up the building’s rickety elevator. A door and two wooden sawhorses worked just fine for my desk and work table. Add a Japanese paper bubble shade over the one light bulb hanging from the high ceiling, get a telephone in and I was in business circa 1958.
And I almost forgot!!! The number 1 issue of New Graphic Design.
